Challenge

At Dimence Groep, a ggz (mental health and wellbeing) organisation in eastern Netherlands, QuestManager is used for various purposes. Examples include Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM), research, and diagnostics. Dimence Groep has been using QuestManager for more than 10 years for over 100,000 clients. Erik de Groot (Senior Staff Advisor Development and Innovation) and René Rust (Head of Digitisation) at Dimence Groep discuss their experiences with QuestManager and how it contributes to the quality of care.

ROM & Data Analysis

QuestManager supports the ROM process by offering measurement instruments periodically and timely. The outcomes are discussed by the therapist, together with the client (and relatives). In addition, the data collected via QuestManager is used for data analysis and possibly for scientific research.

Flexible and Reliable

QuestManager proves to be a valuable tool for Dimence Groep due to its stability, flexibility, and reliability. The application supports various purposes: from diagnostics and treatment monitoring (ROM) to scientific research. Teams within Dimence Groep experience the benefits of QuestManager daily. An example of the flexibility of QuestManager is the ability to develop or customise questionnaires to the specific needs of the target group, treatment, or research. This allows Dimence Groep to respond to new developments and innovations in mental healthcare, such as recovery-oriented work, risk assessment, and digital treatment.

Excellent technical integration options

A significant advantage is the integration capability with other systems. Healthcare providers have direct access to relevant questionnaires, results, and reports via the Electronic Patient Record (EPR). Dimence Groep has integrated QM into the customer journey and client portal for clients. Within the client portal, Dimence Groep provides clients with access to their medical records. Clients also have access to questionnaires from QuestManager that need to be completed during the treatment process.

Once the client has completed the questionnaire(s), they see the results in a client report, providing them with feedback on their progress. This integration between the EPR, QuestManager, and the client portal is made possible by QuestManager’s extensive coupling options (FHIR, APIs). The timely preparation of new questionnaires in the treatment process is also automated. The healthcare provider does not need to worry about this themselves. This saves on administrative burdens and also ensures that questionnaires are completed on time.

Custom questionnaires

Another advantage is that QuestManager offers the ability to develop or customise questionnaires to the specific needs of the target group, treatment, or research.

Thubble: A success story

An example of a successful application of QuestManager is Thubble, Dimence Groep’s digital treatment service. Thubble offers online treatment for various psychological complaints, where the client co-determines the pace and intensity. Thubble makes intensive use of QuestManager for administering ROM questionnaires, which are an essential part of the treatment.

Future vision

“It’s great that Lighthouse has a clear vision for the further development of QuestManager. New versions and new technologies are important,” say Erik and René. “The product must keep up with the times, and we see this at Lighthouse. The collaboration is low-threshold and we can communicate easily. It’s nice to be in contact with each other about the desired developments.”

Tips for other institutions

For new organisations that are still looking for a digital tool for administering questionnaires and/or measurement instruments, Erik and René would give the following advice:

  • Inventory your wishes and needs and make a clear plan. The advantage of QuestManager is that it can be widely used for multiple purposes and user groups. Get the most out of it.
  • Consider whether you want to build the questionnaires yourself or outsource them.
  • Investigate what integration needs there are, for example to the EPR, a data warehouse, or in the area of exchanging information with clients.
