The Challenge

The Martini-Klinik at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf, internationally recognised as a specialist centre for prostate cancer treatment, uses QuestManager from Lighthouse Software to collect patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). This digital solution enables treatment outcomes, recovery, and patient satisfaction to be recorded systematically and automatically, with the aim of further improving both the quality of care and administrative processes.

The clinic has been collecting outcome data since 1992 in order to optimise patient care both therapeutically and procedurally. With QuestManager, this process has been fully digitised and standardised. Patients receive questionnaires at set intervals, aligned with the ICHOM standards for prostate cancer. These can be completed easily at home or on-site using a smartphone, tablet, or PC. More complex questionnaires are reviewed together with a healthcare professional during clinic visits.

According to Detlef Loppow, Director of the Martini-Klinik, the integration of QuestManager contributes to more efficient processes and reduces barriers to outcome measurement:

EHR Integration and Data Visualisation

QuestManager is integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) system of the Martini-Klinik. This integration enables patient information from the EHR to be used automatically for sending out and processing questionnaires. As a result, healthcare professionals no longer need to manually register patients in QuestManager. The results of completed questionnaires are automatically fed back into the EHR and are immediately available to the clinician for evaluation. Through a clear and concise dashboard, the treatment team gains insight into where treatments are progressing well and where adjustments may be needed. These outcomes are also used during consultations with patients to support shared decision-making.

Instead, they can fully focus on the substantive results and the medical implications of the information provided by patients. The data collected is analysed by QuestManager and converted into clear, structured reports. These analyses are presented in an intuitive dashboard, allowing healthcare professionals to quickly gain insight into trends, developments, and individual patient outcomes.
