About the case

GGz Breburg is a mental healthcare provider in the Central and West of the Brabant region that offers both basic and specialized mental healthcare for a wide range of clients. The focus is on the client and the network. Treatment is always tailored to the client’s wishes and capabilities. Thats why the therapist and client work together to take charge of the recovery process. GGz Breburg uses QuestManager to measure recovery and as an information source for making joint decisions about treatment choices.

The strategic course of GGz Breburg is aimed at guaranteeing high-quality and accessible mental healthcare. Important points from this course are: demand-oriented work tailored to the unique needs of the client and the network, cooperation with clients, relatives and other healthcare providers & network partners in the region, demand-oriented approach close to the client and the network, and the use of technology as a tool.

Mental Health Centers

In line with the strategic course, the arrival of Mental Health Centers (MGs) has brought mental healthcare expertise closer to citizens in recent times, with the aim of providing faster and more appropriate treatment or support in response to demand. The first step in this process is the Exploratory Interview (VG), in which the client’s and network’s needs for help are explored as part of the story. On the basis of this exploration, we look together at what help is needed and what is appropriate, which can be both within and outside of mental healthcare. If mental healthcare is needed, there are several options. If this is at GGz Breburg, it can be basic or specialized mental healthcare in the MG or specialized treatment in a center of expertise.

Pioneers in Research

GGz Breburg uses questionnaires (ROMs) via QuestManager in both the Mental Health Centers and Expertise Centers. Margot Metz says: “The use of questionnaires is helpful to get a clear picture of the progress of recovery, to discuss this with the client and to make appropriate treatment choices together on the basis of this. At group level, outcome information is used to learn from and also (with the client’s consent) for research”. GGz Breburg monitors the broad perspective on recovery from the client’s perspective in a positive way via the recovery instrument the Individual Recovery Outcomes Counter (I.ROC). There is now also a Dutch version of this, called the Youth Recovery Outcomes Counter (Y.ROC). Margot continues: “Both instruments are visualized in a spider web in a beautiful and understandable way in QuestManager. In addition, complaint lists are also used via QuestManager (appropriate to the target group)”. GGz Breburg also uses QuestManager to measure client satisfaction and practice-oriented research.

The use of QuestManager within GGz Breburg

Margot Metz tells us more about the use of QuestManager within GGz Breburg: “Working with QuestManager provides us with low-threshold opportunities to have clients and stakeholders fill in measuring instruments in different places and to present the results visually in an understandable way. The system has many possibilities and is linked to the EPD and eHealth platform. We have also set up the system in such a way that measuring instruments are made ready for multiple measurement moments at the push of a button, per target group. Caregivers can directly view and discuss the measurement results with the client via clear graphs via the EPD. Clients can view their ROM outcomes via the eHealth platform in QuestManager. In one glance, the client and therapist can see how the recovery is progressing”. After all, research* shows that clients appreciate ROM as an information source for joint decision-making, provided that the questionnaires are not too long, are tailored to the client’s needs for help and the results are also discussed.
